Ride a white swan

The White Swan, Old Palace Lane, Richmond TW9

A lesser-known Richmond Sunday lunch spot, the White Swan is a pleasant place to while away an afternoon. Near the river but sufficiently far from it to avoid the worst of the crowds, for some reason it describes itself on the website as a 'bar and restaurant' as though 'pub' was too out of date a concept for it. Three ales, some lagers and a long wine list as well as a good food menu, and a little garden out the back sheltered from the wind by an embankment.
